Alkimos Voice Summer 2020

TEAM ALKIMOS SUPPORTING THE SMITH FAMILY CHRISTMAS PRESENTS APPEAL Sales Consultant Brett and his family have signed up to the Smiths Family Christmas Book and Toy Appeal that collects presents to be gifted to less fortunate children around WA. We call out to all Alkimos Beach and Alkimos Vista residents to support our cause by donating new toys and/or books for children aged 0 - 12 years . Your gifts will be donated to young Australians in need who would otherwise go without on Christmas morning. Gifts are being collected at the Alkimos Beach and Alkimos Vista Sales and Information Centre’s and close Tuesday 1 December . Here are some tips for picking the perfect gift. 1. Don’t wrap your donations – we need to ensure that each item is suitable and get it to the right recipient 2. Please give new toys and new books – this helps us ensure that each item is of good quality 3. Your gift should be ready to read or play with as soon as it’s opened on Christmas morning. It’s helpful to include batteries if needed. METRONET UPDATE The METRONET Yanchep Rail Extension project continues to progress rapidly, with early site preparation works complete and the major contractor NEWest Alliance hitting the ground running. Staff are moving into their new administration building in Butler, and a large number have moved into site offices and compounds along the 14.5km alignment including Alkimos and Yanchep. As construction ramps up, the community can expect to see a number of additional site offices in and near the rail corridor. With construction underway, the team are focussed on range of on-ground works taking place including fencing the rail corridor in newly cleared areas, excavating station sites, preparing for retaining wall construction and planning for traffic management and diversions where required. Planning continues for the three green bridges in the Ningana Bushland (north of Pipidinny Road). Building the bridges will give animals a safe place to cross the rail with each being a minimum of 30m wide, span approximately 22m and covered in native vegetation. The three new bridges will increase the number of green bridges currently in Perth from one (on Tonkin Highway) to four. One fauna underpass will also be built in the Alkimos Parks and Recreation Reserve. The project team continues to work hard to finalise construction and management plans, and project designs including noise walls, station designs including external facades, landscaping plans and connectivity around stations.
