Elliot Springs Home and Land Magazine 2021

Spotlight on Development What does a day at work look like for you? No two days are the same and I love that about my job. My role is to keep Elliot Springs moving safely and efficiently and this can involve anything from approvals to delivery. There is lots of variety from budgeting and cashflow to town planning and helping with contracts. I assist with construction management and site management too. What do you like most about your job? It’s really cool seeing something on paper come to fruition, especially when residents and visitors come and enjoy the space. What is a typical day like for you? My favourite thing about my job is the variety. There could be an unexpected challenge to overcome one day, then a long list of tasks to check off another, then working with the wider development team on a new land release the next! No two days are the same. What are some of the projects you’ve worked on for Elliot Springs? Recently I’ve worked the Whites Creek land releases and the Oak Valley offset rehabilitation works as well as overall, Elliot Springs site management. It’s never boring, and you learn so much from every experience. Do you have a favourite part of Elliot Springs? Wadda Mooli Park is a great example of creating something that leaves a positive legacy in our community and is one of my favourite parts of Elliot Springs. I also love the Bindal Ridge trail and that it’s now a well-maintained track where everyone can explore rocky creek beds or head to the hills for hiking and mountain biking adventures in the natural bushland. What’s a fun fact about you? I enjoy travelling and my partner and I would like to travel to some of the Scandinavian countries when it’s safe to do so. Meet our Assistant Development Manager, Tye Smith. Tye loves working at Elliot Springs and his role is varied! Day-to-day he helps to plan and deliver the site’s construction including roads, footpaths and blocks of land. He also works with local community groups and residents to make sure Elliot Springs continues to grow as a neighbourhood. 7 least one big garbage bag at a time. Wardrobe warfare Most of us, if we’re honest have plenty of items in our cupboards that we rarely wear, and which could be sent to the op-shop instead. One clever trick to identify these is to hang all your clothes with the hangers in the reverse direction. Whenever you wear something, return it with the hanger the right way round. After six months you’ll be easily able to tell which clothes to keep and which to donate. Upcycling great memories Almost any item can be upcycled into something new and improved with just a little bit of work, and doing so can help you save serious cash at a time when you need it the most. There are so many great ideas, you could paint a piece of furniture to create a statement piece for your new lounge, spray paint pots so they all match or frame some fabric from an old piece that is going to the tip. Upcycling is kind to the wallet, and is more environmentally friendly too! Elliot Springs / Build your dream home in 2021
