For more information about Neighbourhood Watch, visit the local group’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/SPDNHW or email spdneighbourhoodwatch@gmail.com Preventing crime with Sgt Nadine Webster As the Ipswich District Crime Prevention Coordinator for the Queensland Police Service, I would like to wish each of you a safe and happy festive season. While I can’t give you a Christmas gift, I can suggest a few simple strategies that will help you avoid becoming a victim of crime. Recently crimes including Unlawful Entry and Unlawful Use of Motor Vehicles have been reported in your suburb. Don’t be alarmed! Instead, be motivated to take action and help prevent offences occurring. • Lock your vehicle •.Don’t leave valuables like mobile phones, wallets, handbags, GPS devices, cash or keys in your car •.Park in your driveway or garage rather than on the street where practicable • Use a steering wheel lock •.LOOK, LISTEN and REPORT if you hear or see anything out of character for the time of day or night •.Keep an eye out for anyone acting suspiciously and report it to the Police STRAIGHT AWAY If you have information which may assist Police in apprehending an offender ring Police Link on 131444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 where you will remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward. For more information on vehicle security or home security please visit www.police.qld.gov.au With this information hopefully it will only be Santa paying you a visit this Christmas!
