The team working on Residences Two installed a six-metre wide sticker to the core of the building to mark the occasion, proudly displaying the Australian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags side by side. It was one of many opportunities embraced by Lendlease and our subcontractors during the week to advance education and awareness, seeking to provide employment opportunities and create a culturally safe workplace. In May 2021, the One Sydney Harbour team took part in a cultural awareness and team bonding session hosted by Mirri Mirri, an Aboriginal owned business that helps all Australians improve their understanding and awareness of our Indigenous cultures. In an immersive collaborative art session designed to inform and increase understanding of symbolism in First Nations art, around 70 team members worked together on large canvases to create symbols using traditional painting techniques. Participants were encouraged to explore what was important to them and tell their own story through art, drawing inspiration from First Nations symbolism. The resulting artworks told a vibrant story of personal connection to an ancient and proud culture, both as individuals and as a team, prompting conversation and contemplation.
