With some restrictions still in place across Western Australia here are some local online programs and a few of our favourites that we have enjoyed recently. ART AND CULTURE Annie’s Crafters and Boomerang Bag Groups have been catching up on Zoom Bring your knitting projects, meet some new friends and join in the chat. Contact Anna: annapatisserie@outlook. com . Become a couch curator with some online museum tours. A few office favourites have been virtually visiting The Louvre and Vatican Museums with their online tours. Another one is the free Space Centre Houston interactive mobile app with audio tours and an augmented reality experience. More locally the Art Galley WA plenty of free virtual exhibitions and SciTech have online experiments you can all follow at home. The City of Wanneroo also offer online tours of their Cockman and Buckingham Historic homes. ENVIRONMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY Perth Zoo’s H ome Safari site offers behind-the-scenes videos, educational fact sheets and wild activities for kids of all age webcams Our Alkimos Beach Interpretive Signage Trail c onnects a series of signs to provide an experience that will teach you interesting information about Noongar history, recent history, sustainability and flora and fauna. The Alkimos Beach website has plenty of resources with a free map, children quiz and online audio files. Nature Play WA’s website has plenty of online links to live animal webcams from Zoo’s around the world and links to other museum and science channels. HEALTH AND FITNESS Plus Fitness Alkimos ran online fitness classes through restrictions but the gym has now reopened to members in line with Government guidelines. Sophie at Body X PT & Group fitness is running online Zoom classes at Monday – Friday for $5 per class. Also, free Pilates classes on Wednesdays through Facebook Live. Little Monkey Sports set up online classes for the little ones at home and is now taking bookings for Term 3 classes starting 20 July. Head to the Little Monkey Sports webpage for details. LEARNING Although libraries are starting to open the City of Wanneroo is continuing with the libraries’ ‘Call and Collect’ service . Just call and arrange a collection time, swing past to pick up your curated ‘book bundle’ and drop them back. Ordered a jigsaw, but still waiting for it to be delivered? How about trying a digital one at www.jigsawplanet. com Crash Course is a YouTube channel offering engaging educational videos suitable for high school students. The channel features a wide range of subjects, from anatomy to world history. With Western Australia having entered Stage 3 of the easing of restrictions on 6 June keep an eye out for when business, clubs and groups begin to recommence programs.
