If you have a community news story or an event to share in future updates, please get in touch by emailing us at myjordansprings@lendlease.com It takes a special person to foster positive community sentiment and strengthen the ties between residents in a neighbourhood. For Jordan Springs residents, that person is Greg Belle – one of Lendlease’s Social Sustainability Managers. Greg’s passion for people and communities stems from his background in recruitment and employment advisory. Previously, Greg worked for Lendlease’s Skilling & Employment Centre, and has a lengthy history working in this industry. Greg has spent the majority of his life living in Western Sydney, and loves spending time out and about in the community. When he’s not doing that, you’ll find him in the kitchen – whipping up a signature batch of his chocolate chip cookies with his wife and children. If you’re craving something sweet, why not get in the kitchen and make these mouth-watering treats? Do you have the best garden in Jordan Springs? It’s time to shake out your gloves and sharpen your shears, because we’re running a gardening competition that is too good to pass up! To celebrate the warmer months, we are holding a competition for Jordan Springs residents to show off their gardening prowess. Whether you have the best lawn in the street or an enviable veggie patch, we want to see it! Head over to our Facebook page and find the posts relating to the gardening competition for all the details and a full list of Terms and Conditions. The competition closes on the 29th November, 2022. There’s plenty of Bunnings Warehouse vouchers up for grabs – the perfect present to receive just before Christmas! We look forward to seeing your entries soon! Santa Claus is coming to town! ...and he’s visiting Jordan Springs to find out who’s been naughty or nice! The Llandilo Rural Fire Brigade will be visiting all Jordan Springs parks on the 17th of December, and will be in Llandilo on Christmas Eve. Stay tuned to the Jordan Springs Facebook page where we will announce times and fire truck routes closer to Christmas! Meet Greg, Social Sustainability Manager at Jordan Springs! Greg’s Famous Cookies Ingredients > 125g butter > ½ cup white sugar > ½ cup brown sugar > 1 egg > 1 tsp. vanilla essence > 1 and ¾ cups self-raising flour > 180g of choc chips (or if you’re like Greg, just throw the bag in!) Method Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees, conventional bake. Soften butter in the microwave (30 seconds or less – you don’t want it to melt). Cream butter and both sugars in a bowl, then mix in the egg. Add flour and mix. Add chocolate chips and mix. Roll dough into balls, about 1 tablespoon per ball, and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake for 13 mins. Serve with a scoop of ice cream. A special note from Greg: I normally go by smell and sight when measuring bake times. Once you can smell the cookies, they are getting close. They should be lightly browned. These cookies are intended to be chewy so may seem undercooked when first taken from the oven. He’s making a list; he’s checking it twice.... Lendlease employees give back on annual Community Day Lendlease employees working for the Jordan Springs community joined forces on Monday 17th October to take part in the annual Community Day project at Baabayn Aboriginal Corporation. Based in Western Sydney (Dharug Country), the organisation was founded by five Aboriginal elders to provide a place of healing for Aboriginal people to connect with culture and have a strong sense of belonging. Lendlease employees and volunteers had a wonderful time undertaking landscaping, maintenance and cleaning tasks at the Centre, and were lucky enough to participate in a group yarning session with local elders who shared some special stories and messages of healing. Lendlease has a long history of volunteering and supporting our local communities, first held in 1996, Community Day is when Lendlease employees all around the world come together to work on projects identified as important within their local community.
