Jordan Springs Newsletter Winter 2022

3 Living Sustainably Did you know that as of June 2022, lightweight plastic bags are banned in NSW? From November, the ban will also apply to other single-use plastic items, including straws, cutlery, plates and cotton bud sticks. Plastic shopping bags are used for an average of twelve minutes but take up to 1000 years to break down into microplastics. Microplastic pollution was even detected in human blood for the first time earlier this year. * With plastic pollution making up 60 percent of all litter in NSW, we all need to do our bit to steer clear of single-use plastics. The new plastic bans aim to reduce the environmental impact of plastic pollution on our environment.
