Already home to Enchanted Woods Park, Grech Park and Sundown Park, plus ideally located beside White Rock-Spring Mountain Conservation Estate and Robelle Domain, there’s always somewhere green to discover at Springfield Rise. And, there’s more to come! You’ve probably noticed the work underway to create the new park on Russell Luhrs Way, opposite the Sales and Information Centre. This will become Silver Jubilee Park, an outstanding 14.4 hectare recreational space centred upon two sporting fields which include a cricket oval and six multipurpose courts. These will be a new home for local clubs, encouraging even more Springfield Rise kids to enjoy the health and social benefits of team sports. Silver Jubilee Park also features an adventure playground, kickabout area, shaded picnic facilities and barbecue areas, as well as a toddler play area. The features of this playground have a strong focus on gross motor skills, with activities which require whole body movement and eye-hand coordination skills. Another public green space growing within our community is Ben Nevis Park, taking shape in The Highlands. Fitting into the Scottish-theme of streets in the area, the park was named after Scotland’s largest peak, Ben Nevis. To celebrate the stunning views across Springfield Central to the Brisbane CBD, the design of Ben Nevis Park is focused on a lookout point where a landmark sign will help visitors recognise prominent Springfield features. Kids will love the feature swing, slide and percussion play zone in the toddler-friendly shaded area. Parents can relax and socialise at the barbecue and sheltered picnic tables, or if you’re feeling more adventurous take the path leading directly into White Rock-Spring Mountain Conservation Estate. Ben Nevis Park is anticipated to open by end of year.
