Springfield Rise Autumn 2022 Newsletter

Community grant call out We know how important local groups are for building thriving neighbourhoods. That’s why we need to support our community-built initiatives in any way we can! The Springfield Rise Community Grants Program is an exciting program that provides funding for initiatives, projects and events that benefit our growing community through improving social, environmental and economic outcomes. So far, this program has funded 34 worthy local initiatives - that’s $114k worth of community grants! With a $10k funding pool we are calling on you to nominate worthy causes in the community to bolster their efforts. Nominate a local organisation or program that works to: 1. Educate / up-skill the community 2. Connect and strengthen relationships within the community 3. Assist the start-up and ongoing support of community groups programs, social enterprise 4. Celebrate the stories of Greater Springfield’s past and present 5. Activate public space The Springfield Rise Community Grants Program opens for applications on Tuesday, 26 April 2022. The full program information is available online https://bit.ly/3jaXYMJ or contact springfieldrisecommunity@lendlease.com to discuss ideas. Have you seen... Early last year we invited Year Six students from Spring Mountain State School to participate in a workshop with First Nations artist Libby Harward in celebration of NAIDOC Week. After learning about Respect for Country and the various native species that call Springfield home, the students were invited to express their learnings through paint and paper! From snakes to eucalypt trees, these students sketched and painted many of the notable species in our region. The final artwork is filled with images of local Springfield flora and fauna and represents our special connection to the land that we call home – so we had to share it! And share it we did! You have probably seen it many times on the iconic welcome sign on Russell Luhrs Way, the perfect greeting for visitors and residents entering the Springfield Rise community. We have now also recently installed this collaborative piece to the school’s fencing on Dublin Avenue, because we just can’t get enough! Here’s a small sample to encourage you to check it out!
