Yarrabilba News Spring 2020

Sport and Recreation gaining steam Thank you to community members who responded to the recent Sport and Recreation Survey. Prior to COVID-19 restrictions there was a wide mix of activities being undertaken, but the high performers were walking, gym and club sport. It is definitely pleasing to see how people have continued (and even ‘stepped up’) their walking habits through recent times, utilising the many kilometres of walking trails and outdoor parks and recreation spaces in Yarrabilba. As restrictions have started to ease further, we are very excited to share some developments being made in the delivery of club sport opportunities for Yarrabilba residents (in COVID Safe ways). With some programs already up and running and others in development behind the scenes, the survey results showed us there is a very strong interest in getting back into the game. Take a look at who is currently playing… Yarrabilba Touch Footy Yarrabilba Touch Association have just commenced their next season which runs until mid December at the Shaw Street Oval. Affiliated with Touch Football Queensland, they have started with 13 mixed teams on Friday and four junior teams on Wednesday. With their eyes on competing for the Queensland State Cup, they are putting the call out to locals to sign up.
