In early September we put the call out to groups and eligible organisations to apply to our Springfield Rise Community Grants Program for projects and initiatives that help support local COVID recovery. We had a great response and we are excited to announce the three recipients who will delivering projects and initiatives in 2021. Scouts Queensland Come and try Springfield community event Scouting encourages the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual development of young people so that they take a constructive place in society as responsible citizens and members of their local community. This community event will invite locals to try out scouting activities such as a climbing wall, camping displays, damper making, stretcher making and racing, basic knots and their use, obstacle course and craft activities. They are looking to host this community event in March 2021. Spring Mountain State School P&C Water tank and slab for future community garden project This grant will see the establishment of the first stage of a school community garden project with the installation of a water tank and slab. The school has a vision to progress this to a fully-fledged garden that is open to the whole community to be involved. Baseline Tennis Coaching Community open day and targeted programs This grant will see community invited to take part in activation of the new tennis courts at Springfield Central Sports Complex with participation in free open day activities. The grant is also supporting targeted coaching and pathway programs with local schools that support both female and indigenous participation in the sport. Share your ideas and be involved! Our grants program funds and supports initiatives or events that benefit the community of Springfield Rise and surrounding areas, through improving social, environmental and economic outcomes. We are always looking to engage with new groups and eligible organisations to discuss ideas and projects that deliver broad community benefit.
