Barangaroo South Sustainability Report 2021 - 2023

Lifelong Education At Barangaroo South, we recognise that education is not merely a stage of life but an ongoing process that empowers individuals to contribute positively to their communities and the world at large. Lifelong Education is a cornerstone of the Social Impact Plan at Barangaroo South and is at the heart of our educational legacy. This initiative is designed to not only educate but foster a sense of civic responsibility and awareness in the younger generation. By integrating educational programs into our social impact strategy, we aim to cultivate a community that is not just informed but also engaged, contributing to sustainable development in both social and environmental aspects. Supporting Sustainability Leaders of the Future Discover Barangaroo – Educational Initiative Urban Regeneration has been brought to life for 1,791 high school students across Australia who have immersed themselves in our Discover Barangaroo Lessons. Launched in 2021, the virtual lessons are aligned with the Australian Curriculum and take students on a journey through Barangaroo’s world-class precinct on Sydney’s foreshore. Developed in partnership with Kimberlin Education, each 50-minute lesson has been uniquely designed to develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the urban regeneration precinct, via a series of interactive activities, videos and pre-and post-lesson assessment activities. Subject areas include History, with a focus on the First Nations History of the site and Lendlease’s Reconciliation Action Plan, Social Impact, Environmental Sustainability and STEM. Supported by a comprehensive Teacher Guide brimming with curriculum links and extension activities, teachers are empowered to explore each subject with confidence. A total of 541 high schools in every state across Australia have since signed up to participate in the program, reporting a high level of student engagement across the board.
