Friendly Competition Meets Cultural Exchange Traditional Indigenous Games Corporate Challenge with NASCA provides cultural engagement and leadership experience NASCA’s annual Traditional Indigenous Games (TIG) Corporate Challenge, founded in 2021, helps to enhance young people’s connection with their culture, as they learn about the history of the games, the equipment and materials their ancestors would have used and enjoy a fun and active day while making new friends. TIGs have been played for thousands of years by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. Often non-competitive, they focus on building skills such as speed, agility and accuracy. In 2022, Lendlease entered a team into the NASCA TIG Corporate Challenge, marking their first foray into this culturally significant event. Encouraged by the positive experience, we upped the ante in 2023 by entering two teams. The teams are coached by NASCA students, providing them with a unique platform to cultivate leadership abilities, while also providing competitors with enriching cultural engagement. As we competed for the title of TIG Champion, we’re proud to report that one of our teams clinched the trophy, a testament to the hard work and enthusiasm of all involved. For both students and staff, the event was instrumental in fostering a deeper understanding of culture and creating a vibrant, inclusive community.
