Barangaroo South Sustainability Report 2021 - 2023
Pictured: One Sydney Harbour team members volunteer to re-vamp the garden space. • Furniture building Recognising the importance of creating a homely environment, volunteers from Lendlease and our partner organisations came together to raise funds for and assemble furniture for the new facility, turning empty rooms into welcoming spaces. • Lendlease trivia To foster community bonding and lighten the atmosphere, Lendlease graduates organised a trivia event, both as a means of raising additional funds and to create awareness about domestic violence. • The garden project Understanding the therapeutic power of nature, 19 dedicated members from our One Sydney Harbour and FutureSteps teams collaborated with yourtown in a volunteer effort aimed at beautifying garden spaces for the homes. This was no small undertaking, requiring tasks that ranged from building borders, sawing sleepers, and mixing cement to cutting trees and planting 100 donated native plants. The endeavour filled two donated skip bins and even included the construction of a sandpit for the families to enjoy. Beyond the physical labour and transformation of the garden, this initiative held deeper meaning as a reminder to those who have suffered from traumatic events that they are not alone and that we, as a community, care.
