Pictured: Alyssa Hudson, NAWIC Award winner 2022. Lendlease talent honoured at 2022 NAWIC Awards for Excellence in Construction In a sector that has been traditionally dominated by men, it is important to recognise the contributions of women in construction. The talents of Alyssa Hudson, Megan Lohrisch, and Ceire Kenny, were honoured with awards from the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). Alyssa, a third-year building and construction apprentice with Lendlease, was awarded the Transport for NSW Tradesperson Scholarship whilst on rotation at the One Sydney Harbour site. A transition from university study led Alyssa to the construction industry, where she found “the satisfaction of hands-on work and the opportunity to contribute to society.” Alyssa has worked on several significant projects and is currently building a robust skills base with a view toward progressing to a site manager role. Megan and Ceire won the CPB Contribution to Sustainability award for their innovative approach to reducing carbon footprint in construction materials at One Sydney Harbour. The dynamic Lendlease duo procured an aluminium façade panel system that significantly reduces embodied carbon emissions. By sourcing a supplier that uses hydroelectricity for aluminium smelting, they managed to cut down emissions by an impressive 34 per cent. These awards exemplify the kind of innovative thinking and commitment to excellence that is driving our industry forward as we work towards building a more sustainable and inclusive future for us all. 63 Sustainability Report 2021–23 Barangaroo South SHAPING A SUSTAINABLE FUTURE
