King Street Newsletter Spring 2021

Brisbane Cycling Festival rides into King St In July, Queensland’s cycling community rolled into King St for the Brisbane Cycling Festival, which offered endless two-wheeled fun for avid velophiles, hobby riders, starter cyclists and local families. We caught up with Festival Director Aaron Flanagan for his take on an unforgettable three days: Congratulations Aaron on organising an amazing festival! “Thank you, I’m delighted that the 2021 Brisbane Cycling Festival was such a stunning success! The Brisbane Cycling Festival is the largest cycling celebration of its kind anywhere in Australia, reflecting the immense enthusiasm Queenslanders have for getting out on their bikes.” The King St precinct was packed throughout the event. That’s right, almost 20,000 people visited the precinct to ride the Tour de Brisbane and visit the SBS Festival Village and Active Lifestyle Expo, where exhibitors presented the latest cycling technology and healthy lifestyle products at the Brisbane Showgrounds. There was something for everyone to enjoy in the Village, from hard core cycling enthusiasts to local families who came along to try the activities and watch the live entertainment. King St sounds like the ideal Presenting Partner for the Festival? Yes absolutely. The huge number of people was wonderful to see but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Businesses and venues throughout the King St precinct really went above and beyond to extend a warm welcome to the cycling community and we received lots of very positive feedback about our partnership with King St. This is such an iconic location that offers outstanding hospitality, culture and great food while having the space to host our King St Kick It Criterium, Nitro Circus, the Tour de Brisbane and more in one place. Cheers to an unforgettable Brisbane Cycling Festival Hidden gems at the Finders Keepers Market The Finders Keepers Market is Australia’s finest design market and King St is proud to partner with this exquisitely curated marketplace. Mindful makers, local designers and artisan entrepreneurs gathered at the Brisbane Convention Centre in Bowen Hills as eager shoppers made the most of this perfect opportunity for unique Christmas gift shopping. As Queensland’s home of craft and design, artisan extended their opening hours throughout the weekend to accommodate the additional visitors who were drawn to the King St precinct.
