Movies Jazz &Movies in the Park Get jazzy with this free music and movie event on 13 November We’re combining our popular Jazz in the Park and Movies in the Park events for one spectacular evening of free fun! On Saturday 13 November in Alexandria Park, our Jazz in the Park Movie Night will kick off at 4.30pm with the 18-piece big band from Jazz Music Institute playing the music of jazz pioneer Count Basie. Expect key compositions by the legendary figure, and an exploration of why (almost 90 years after its creation) the Count Basie Orchestra is so important to the history of music. Following the tunes, our first movie for the evening, Mary Poppins Returns, will commence at 5.50 pm and will be followed (after an intermission from 8:00pm to 8:15pm) by Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby. As well as the evening’s main entertainment, there’ll be free balloons and activity packs for the kids, free popcorn for everyone registered and a King St Eats voucher for every group registered, which can be used at King St’s retailers for a picnic dinner while enjoying the music and movies! La Macelleria’s gelato and coffee cart will also be on-site to meet any cravings. Attendees are encouraged to BYO picnic blankets, cushions and chairs, but those with chairs will be asked to sit towards the back to ensure everyone has a view. Dogs on a lead are welcome too, but alcohol and glass should be left at home. Free registration for each movie session is required. While the jazz and movie showings are free to attend, numbers are limited and registration is required for COVID-Safe purposes and will be checked. www.kingstreetbrisbane.com/news-events-offers/news/jazz-and-movies-in-the-park/
