It’s been 10 years since you were
crowned Miss Universe. How has your
personal style changed since then?
I certainly feel more confident
about what my true style is. Over
time I’ve developed a sense of what
suits me and works back well with
pieces I already have. I’ll always
gravitate to a laid-back beach style
with a little sexiness, and I tend to
steer clear of anything too girly.
I like to mix classic basics such as
denim shorts or a well-cut blazer
with on-trend pieces. When it
comes to choosing a special piece,
I love designers like Alex Perry,
Toni Maticevski and Yeojin Bae.
What are your top tips for women
dressing for Spring Racing season?
If you can, plan your outfits well in
advance so you don’t have a last
minute panic. Around a month
before works well for me, as it
gives me enough time to decide
on accessories and how I’d like to
wear my hair. To feel your best,
a beautiful fake tan will give you
confidence. I use JBronze, as it’s
super natural and gives me a lovely
healthy glow. Wearing fake tan also
means you can keep foundation
to a minimum, which will ensure
you look fresh faced. Also, avoid
wearing new shoes and remember
you are in them all day so make
sure they are comfortable!
What are your favourite trends
coming through for Spring/Summer?
I love all the sorbet colours we’re
seeing on the catwalk, which are
really beautiful and feminine. I also
really like the casual boho vibe,
paired back with denim for daytime
dressing. White is another big trend
that always looks great against
bronzed skin in summer.
you’ve slept in and have ten minutes
to get ready, talk us through your
go-to outfit, hair and makeup look.
I usually have a little fake tan on my
face, which is great to save time in
the mornings, as you don’t really
need foundation. So with a little
colour already I just use mascara,
lipgloss and some JBronze shimmer
on my cheeks. For a quick, no fuss
outfit in a hurry I’d choose light
denim skinny jeans and a black
blazer. If it’s warm, denim shorts,
a singlet and a pair of nice flats.
What’s been the highlight of your
time as the Face of Myer?
Wow, there have been so
many highlights! Working
with amazing designers
really has been incredible.
I’ve done some amazing
campaigns working with
the other ambassadors
like Kris Smith, and Myer’s
twice-annual fashion
launch parades are a
highlight; it’s always
such a rush taking
to the catwalk.
