Jordan Springs Newsletter - Autumn 2023

3 Keeping the spirit of Neighbour Day alive every day in Jordan Springs How well do you know your neighbours? Is it a relationship where you nod and wave if you see them putting the bins out, or have you formed a genuine friendship with the people you share a fence line with? Regardless of how deep your relationship is, the important thing is that you have one. Connecting with your neighbours is not only a great way to meet new friends, but also provides you with a sense of security knowing you have a relationship with the people that live closest to you. In honour of Neighbour Day (26th March) we’re exploring why it pays to know your neighbours, and simple ways you can connect with other Jordan Springs residents. 1. Get online! Jordan Springs is home to a couple of community-run Facebook pages, including the Jordan Springs Dads Facebook group and the Jordan Springs Mums 2.0 Facebook group. There is a suite of other generic Jordan Springs Facebook groups that make it easy to find friends in your local area, such as Jordan Springs Community Group 2747. 2. Join a community group or sporting team. If connecting face-to-face is more your speed, why not join one of Jordan Springs local community groups or sporting clubs? The Jordan Springs Probus Club is a great example of connecting likeminded locals. Designed for the retired or semi-retired the Probus Club has monthly get togethers to encourage friendship, fun and fellowship in retirement. 3. Organise your very-own street party to network. While this idea requires a little more work, the pay-off is worth it! Whether it’s for a specific occasion like Easter, or just held on a weekend of your choosing, a street party is a great way to gather and connect residents in your little pocket of Jordan Springs. Do a letter box drop or make a post in one of the aforementioned Facebook groups to increase awareness of your event, and use the opportunity to connect neighbours, host a swap-meet, or discuss neighbourhood safety precautions. Share your story and win! You could win a food voucher to Brooks Tavern just by entering our Neighbour Day competition. All you need to do is send a selfie with your neighbour to myjordansprings@lendlease.com and tell us the best thing about your street. We have a prize pool of $2000, so gather those pictures and stories for your chance to win! Entries close Sunday, 30th April 2023.
