3 Lending a helping hand to our community Congratulations to the recipients of the latest round of Shoreline community grants: Redland Bay Tennis Club and Y-Care (South East Queensland). The Shoreline Community Grants Program is an initiative which aims to build capacity of local community groups, not-for-profits and social enterprises through projects and initiatives that support environmental, economic and social outcomes. Since the program’s inception in 2021, close to $9000 in funds has been awarded to local projects within the Redland Bay community. Redland Bay Tennis Club Redland Bay Tennis Club were awarded a grant for their ‘Let’s Ace Awareness for our Ovaries - Ladies Day.’ The event has been created to help build awareness of ovarian cancer and provide a safe, welcoming and fun environment for women to learn why it’s important to put their health first. The event (to be held on 18 September) will be aimed at both women and girls to come together, participate in activities, learn about ovarian cancer awareness and form connections in their community. Register for a free ticket: https://bit.ly/3Pu551d Y-Care South East Queensland The LINK at Victoria Point received a community grant to fund their Connect @ the LINK (Youth Drop-in Service) - school holiday program. The Link’s youth drop-in space aims to empower the local youth community, in a safe and inclusive space. Their grant supported the program with two facilitators for a scooter and skate jam school holiday activity. Starting in Term 3, Transdev’s Redland Bay school bus service turns into Shoreline Avenue with its morning and afternoon service. The morning route 5052 stops at schools including Redland Bay State School, St Rita's Catholic School at Victoria Point, Faith Lutheran College (Primary and Senior Campuses), Carmel College and Bayview State School in Thornlands. The afternoon route 5156 services Redland Bay State School and Victoria Point State High School. Local schools have been advised of the updated route.
