Community Grants Program brings local intiatives to life Ready to play ball! Y-Care Brisbane (South East Queensland) Congratulations to Y-Care Brisbane who will use their grant funds towards a spooky Halloween themed event for the Springfield community, taking place at the Springfield Rise Display Village Green. This will be a family-friendly event. YMCA Springfield Lakes Community Centre Shout out to YMCA Springfield who will utilise their grant funds to help deliver a school holiday program for the Springfield community (details page 11). Brisbane Valley Anglers Fish Stocking Association For it’s fifth year running, the Brisbane Valley Anglers Fish Stocking Association will host their annual Springfield Lakes Pest Fishing Event. The event creates awareness around pest fish in local waterways and how to support biodiversity. Springfield Lakes Netball Club Inc Round of applause to Springfield Lakes Netball Club on being awarded their community grant. The club will use the funds to deliver a first-aid training course that will have places open to the wider community. Community groups shape our growing community in Springfield. Recognising the importance of building communities from the ground up, Lendlease introduced the Springfield Rise Community Grants Program in 2016, supporting more than 45 initiatives across the Springfield community since. It’s official! Greater Springfield has a basketball association to call its own. Basketball Queensland has welcomed the Greater Springfield Basketball Association as a new association in Queensland. Pioneers Basketball CEO, June Tahata, said their dream of creating an opportunity for local basketballers to pathway from domestic club competition to state and national programs is now a reality. "This allows us to represent Greater Springfield on a state level as we enter Basketball Queensland's various competitions. "Our teams will be competing all over south east Queensland, from the Gold Coast to the Sunshine Coast and up the range to Toowoomba. "We'll also be sending teams to state champs which will be held in places like Townsville, Cairns and Rockhampton to name a few," she said.
