Yarrabilba Winter News 2020

Lendlease invited Yarrabilba residents, schools, businesses and community groups to get active and take a reflective walk throughout National Reconciliation Week (27 May - 3 June), to mark the 20 year anniversary of the Bridge Walks for Reconciliation. The initiative encouraged the Yarrabilba community to spend their walk reflecting on what reconciliation means to them and learn something new about First Nations history or culture. Links to podcasts and music were provided and a week- long social media campaign shared local cultural heritage information and recommended walks people could do locally to further their cultural knowledge. Suggested walks included in Yarrabilba’s native food trail in Jinnung Jalli Park, and a visit to one of the local indigenous public artworks. At the end of the week Yarrabilba’s total kilometres travelled were tallied up. We are thrilled to report a massive 979km was walked by the Yarrabilba community for reconciliation. A huge thanks to Yarrabilba State Secondary College teachers who contributed a huge number of kilometres to this tally. When asked what they got out of it, one participant said, “I think we have all been a lot more mindful of moving more. Taking the steps instead of the elevators, walking the long way from the parking lot to offices, standing up at desks and moving just a little bit more.” Yarrabilba Walks for Reconciliation From Monday 29 June , you’ll be able to catch the new TransLink route Better frequency The bus will run hourly during peak and A new TransLink service is coming to Yarrabilba 587 The new Translink bus service has seamlessly commenced operation with the new TransLink route 587 Yarrabilba to Loganlea station bus service.
