John Webb, a resident at Fiddlers Green, has calculated
potential savings from the 140 footpath lights.
“The lights are turned off at 1am and on again at 5am.
If they were turned off an hour earlier and on an hour later,
we would save 2,400kWh every year.”
To balance safety with energy savings the village
has a daylight sensor installed turning the footpath lights
off with the morning sun.
