The recent devastation in Nepal from the April earthquakes
– from the loss of life and belongings of the Nepalese people
to the destruction of ancient temples and
buildings – has caused Robert much anguish.
On a visit to Nepal in 1987, Robert painted
many of the temples, sketched the people
of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Thimi and
formed a fondness for all of them. These
works are now of historical significance
and interest.
Since the calamitous earthquakes, Robert has put them
together in the book ‘Tragedy of Nepal.’ Sales of the book
will assist with the Red Cross International
Appeal for Nepal.
One of Robert’s original watercolours,
‘Kathmandu Temple,’ will be on display
at the Annual Exhibition of the Pure
Watercolour Society in England. Entire
proceeds from an auction of this painting
will go to the same fund.
Artist Robert Wade OAM, a resident of Menzies Malvern,
was recently named
‘One of the World’s Ten Living Masters of Watercolour.’
