To date, Lendlease has installed 410kW of solar panels across
the retirement living portfolio. This is equivalent to taking
129 cars off the road.
The largest solar installation is at Highvale Village where a
50kW solar photovoltaic (PV) system has been installed on the
‘The Manor’ building. Located on the north, west and east facing
sections of the roof, the panels have maximised solar conversion,
increasing the system’s overall energy production and reducing
electricity consumption.
In terms of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, this 50.5kW
system equates to taking 17.4 passenger vehicles off the road
each year, and will prevent over 567 tonnes of brown coal from
being burnt over a 25-year period. It’s expected to achieve an
annual CO
2
reduction of 75 tonnes and contribute a saving of
$207,000 over 20 years, with payback expected within nine years.
Lendlease worked with the residents of the village to install
87kW solar panels on the roof of 87 independent living units.
The equivalent of planting 320 trees, these units have generated
approximately 18MWh of electricity.
Highvale management and residents are also investing in a
number of additional energy efficient measures to further reduce
their energy consumption and impact on the environment.
